April is National Poetry Month…

Students are encouraged to check out the ESA Library Master List of Canadian Poetry Contests which you might want to consider entering this Poetry Month, or at anytime throughout the year.

  • We have only entered the briefest of notations into the spreadsheet, but it’s enough to let you know whether it might be of interest to you.
  • You must go to the website (see hyperlinks under ‘Name of Contest”) to find all of the specifications.

We have also included references to a few upcoming Fiction Writing Awards as well, while we’ve got your attention.  These contests are noted in italics.

Students considering entering ANY writing contest should be aware of the fact that there are plenty of scams out there.

  • Absolute Write has a great page on their site with things to think about and beware of when entering Poetry (or other) writing contests.

While we believe that all of the Poetry contests included in this document are on the up and up, all students are strongly encouraged to do their own due diligence when entering any contests.

Good luck with anything you enter…
