Our poem of the day for today is: Old Men From Italy by Kevin Irie.
“They stand on College Street,
penned in by municipal pavement,
no campo, no piazza to carry their voices
back to the Old World.
Language, the sole import
that travels easily…”
Japanese-Canadian, Mr. Irie is a lifelong resident of Toronto, specifically Little Italy. Has been published in multiple periodicals and anthologies, and broadcast on CBC Radio.
