Movin’ On Up

Today is the day!  Welcome to all of our incoming Grade 9 students and parents.

We’re looking forward to meeting you in the Library in just a little while. For your (later) reference, here are links to the presentations shared during each of the student and parent sessions.

  • Parents were provided with copies of both the TDSB Virtual Library Learnmark and the ESA Bookmark during their session.

If you were unable to attend, or have any (further) questions, please don’t hesitate to send an e-mail to enid.wray <at>

ESsays Creative Writing Blog: Student Editors Wanted!

Forgive the duplicate posting…  this will also be coming out on the ESAInfo blast as I deem it to be important enough to be in two places!!

ESsays is ESA’s own Creative Writing Blog.

  • Do you like to write poetry and/or prose?
  • Would you like to work with fellow ESA students in moderating and publishing student writing?
  • Do you have good technical skills?…  be that as they relate to the English language and/or computer technology and word processing.
  • Are you looking for a different way to earn community service hours this school year?

The job of student editor involves the following duties (under the supervision of, and with the assistance of, Ms. Wray):

  • Vetting and posting submissions to the blog.
  • Promoting the blog.
  • Liasing with the new creative writing club.
  • Engaging in fundraising activities in support of the print publication.
  • Preparing the content for the print publication.

Interested students should apply by completing this Google Form.  All students who apply will be contacted during the second week of school.

E.S.says accepts submissions year round.  So send us the absurd, the witty, the bold and the downright nonsensical.

Best yet, this blog culminates in an end of year book of letters!

Indeed hard copies of each of our first two published collections, Letters Vol1 and Vol2, are available for sale in limited quantities for just $5 each.   See Ms. Wray in the Library to purchase a copy for posterity.

With that said, what are you waiting for? Grab your plumes and start scratching!

New School Year, New Network Passwords

Forgive the duplicate posting…  this will also be coming out on the ESAInfo blast as I deem it to be important enough to be in two places!!

All students are advised that TDSB IT Services reset all student account passwords effective Wednesday August 17th, 2016.

“This central action will help reduce the effort required by the schools to reset passwords through LAS and reduce the disruption to classrooms during the September school opening timeframe.

The passwords will be reset to the Student Shared Secret password which consists of the last 4 digits of student number followed by the two digit day and two digit month of student’s birthday. The format will be nnnnddmm.”

This central resetting may cause disruption in your ability to login remotely to your TDSB AW and Google Drive accounts on your personal devices until you validate your account on a school networked machine.

Students will need to drop into the Library – or find another school networked machine to login on – to reset passwords for seamless access.
